Holy Sh*t, 2 posts in 2 days

The new Full Contact Poker room is now up and running! (www.fullcontactpoker.com) The site is in what they are calling a "soft beta" launch, basically, the site needs some work. But I have full confidence in the team over there at FCP.

So far (in the 24 or so hours I've played on it) I've enjoyed it. I played in a $1,000 freeroll last night where they had 717 players!. It was free to enter, but they had unlimited rebuys ($1) for the first hour and an add-on. I played normal for the first 45 minutes and had about 1,100 of my starting 1,500 stack. I decided to loosen up (come on its a free roll) and promptly went bust. I rebought (1,500 in chips) and was dealt AA. I pushed preflop and doubled up thru 77. The very next hand I was dealt KQ spades and went all-in again. I got called by QQ and flopped a K to double up again. I went from 1,500 to 16,000 in less than 5 minutes with a sick rush of cards.

The tournament paid top 80 and I was unable to chip up higher than 16K. Getting close to the bubble I lost a few big pots and was down to around 6,500. I eventually got all my money in preflop with AA vs JJ, and of course the board read 6,7,8,9,10 and IGHN (I go home now) in 82nd place. Overall, the tournament cost me $2 but it was worth it for almost 2 hours of fun.

Today I played some high stakes poker on FCP. Ok, it was really $0.02/$0.04 limit and $0.02/$0.04 NL. In limit I bought in for a whole dollar ($1) and cashed out $1.50, it was fun. In NL I bought in for the max ($2) and was able to run it up to $12 and change. I got really good cards and tripled up (from $2.25 to $6.75) with AA. It was fun to play and not really care about the money, and I think it helped my confidence. I may start a challenge like turning trying to make $100 and low limit tables in an effort to play more. I'd track my progress on this site, but nothing will start till after the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Cheers!

Long time no blog

Well things (poker related) have decidedly taken a turn for the worse for me, both live and online. After advancing to the quarter finals of the FCPPC, I busted out first after running into some big hands. Currently I have no place to play online. I had to pull all my money out of Party Poker because of the "port safety" bill and Full Contact Poker was previously part of the On-Game network which also decided to leave the US market. However, FCP is going to announce a new partnership (hopefully today) and I should be able to play. I'm thinking of depositing on Poker Stars or Full Tilt as well.

As for live play, I busted out second in the WSOP Poker Tour last night. I made a pre-flop raise with KK, got 3 callers and the flop was 10 9 3 rainbow. I bet out, two folds and a guy re-raises all-in (has me covered). I call and he has a set of 3's. If I was a better player I would be able to get away from that hand. Seriously, what hands to I realistically beat, QQ JJ and that's about it. I cant see a push (from this player) with A10 and I highly doubt he'd call a raise with 10 9. So it is glaringly obvious that he has AA, 10 10, 99 or 33 (and a very small chance of also holding KK).

It just seams that lately I'm getting my money into the pot with the worst of it. I played two 9 man SNG (live) and busted with AK vs KK and AJ (J high flop) vs AA. If I weren't barely playing poker now, I would take a break. Maybe I need to play more but it sure is frustrating right now.

a Non-poker related item, my family got a new puppy. She's now 10 weeks old (had her for 3 weeks) and is a German Sheppard/Golden Retriever mix that we adopted from the local Animal Protective League. She is so cute....This picture was taken from the day we got her (about 6lbs.). She is so much bigger now, I'll have to take another pic (about 10lbs).

I promise to blog more frequently (if its only a promise to myself). Have a happy holiday and remember to eat too much!!
