Vegas Trip Report - Part 1

I finally feel rested enough to get to my trip report from my recent visit to Las Vegas. To avoid a lengthy blog, I am going to three separate entries. I guess I’ll start at the beginning....

I was all packed and ready to go, just waiting for my buddy T-Bird to show up at my house. T-Bird shows up early and we have time to kill before leaving for the airport to make our 8:55pm flight, so of course we bring out the poker chips and play heads up. We just can’t wait to get to Vegas and play two games, each winning one.

We get to the airport at 8:00pm, check the board and see our plane is on-time and head to the bar. We order two drinks and the bartender tells up we can make it a double for only $2 more. She makes a lot of sense so we both get doubles. The drinks go down smooth, and quickly. We pay the tab ($22) and head to the gate.

We get to the gate and are shocked to see that our plane is delayed, although it was on-time less than 30 minutes earlier. Anyway, it turns out our plane won’t be in till 10:15pm, so we head back to the bar for more alcohol. We quickly order another round of doubles and start talking to the chick next to us. Her flight is delayed as well (same bad weather on east coast). Between her 10+ cell phone calls, we learn that she was driven to the airport by her striper friend, who was high and had coke in her purse, and that someone left a half smoked joint on her chair at work. She also tells us she is heading to Milwaukee to meet her boyfriend/future husband, although they have never kissed. She was 25 and attractive, but not even close to the craziest chick I would meet.

Fast forward a bit, we head back to the gate, I’ve had 3 doubles and T-Bird had 3 doubles and 2 singles, and get on the plane. The movie sucks, I sleep, T-Bird has another Jack and soda. We get to Vegas, meet up with our other friend Klotz, grab out luggage, hail a cab and go to the Imperial Place. As we will discover later, our cabbie fucked us and took the long way, costing us $25.

As I mentioned in a previous blog, the whole reason of the trip was to support a friend who was playing in the Main Event at the WSOP.

Next up....let the gambling begin.
